X-Rite Pantone Launches Offset360 to Enhance Offset Printing Efficiency
New colour management solution helps sheetfed offset printers reduce makeready times, improve colour consistency, and minimize waste.

X-Rite Pantone has introduced Offset360, a comprehensive colour management solution designed to help sheetfed offset printers improve production efficiency, streamline workflows, and achieve greater colour consistency across print jobs.

The new solution addresses common challenges faced by print service providers, including lengthy makeready times, frequent manual adjustments, and colour variations between production runs and printing locations. Rather than investing in entirely new press equipment, Offset360 focuses on optimizing existing operations through advanced colour measurement and automated adjustment technologies.

According to X-Rite Pantone, production inefficiencies are often caused by disconnected workflows and manual intervention rather than limitations of the printing press itself. By integrating measurement, analysis, and automated correction into a unified workflow, the company aims to help printers reduce waste, improve productivity, and maintain consistent colour quality.

Offset360 combines several of X-Rite Pantone’s established technologies, including the IntelliTrax2 automated scanning system, MeasureColor software, reporting tools, and ink presetting solutions. The platform operates through a closed-loop control process in which spectral data captured from printed sheets is automatically fed back to the press, enabling real-time colour adjustments and improved process control.

One of the key advantages of the solution is its compatibility with both modern and older sheetfed offset presses, allowing a broader range of print businesses to benefit from automation and advanced colour management without significant equipment replacement costs. The system also supports industry-recognized process control methodologies based on G7 and ISO standards.

X-Rite Pantone states that Offset360 can reduce initial investment costs by up to 60 percent compared to purchasing multiple standalone colour management systems, making it an attractive option for printers seeking operational improvements while managing capital expenditure.

The solution has already been implemented by several print manufacturers, including Spanish pharmaceutical packaging producer Cartonajes Pans. According to the company, the adoption of Offset360 has delivered measurable improvements in production performance, particularly in reducing setup times and improving colour accuracy.

Enrique González García, Printing Manager at Cartonajes Pans, highlighted the importance of minimizing machine downtime and enhancing productivity. He noted that structured measurement systems are becoming increasingly valuable as the industry faces a shortage of highly experienced press operators.

Since implementing the technology in 2023, the company reports a reduction of approximately 15 percent in colour-related production issues, contributing to greater process stability and improved operational efficiency.

To support successful implementation, X-Rite Pantone provides a comprehensive onboarding process that includes production audits, system configuration, operator training, and ongoing performance reviews. These services are designed to help print businesses maximize the benefits of the technology and maintain consistent production standards.

With the launch of Offset360, X-Rite Pantone continues to expand its portfolio of colour management solutions, helping offset printers improve quality, reduce waste, and achieve greater control over increasingly demanding production environments.
