Flint Group’s TerraCode Bio Wins Gold for Sustainable Print Innovation at FIA UK Awards
Award-winning bio-renewable ink solution helps packaging printers reduce carbon emissions while maintaining high-speed print performance and quality.

Flint Group Packaging Solutions has been awarded Gold in the Technical Innovation (Supplier) category at the 2026 FIA UK Awards for its TerraCode Bio range of bio-renewable ink solutions. The recognition highlights the company’s commitment to advancing sustainable printing technologies while maintaining the performance standards required by modern packaging converters and printers.

Presented during the FIA UK Awards ceremony on June 11, the award acknowledges TerraCode Bio’s ability to deliver both environmental and operational benefits. Developed as a water-based ink system, the solution is manufactured using up to 90% bio-renewable and recycled raw materials, helping users reduce their carbon footprint without compromising productivity or print quality.

According to Flint Group Packaging Solutions, TerraCode Bio has been engineered to replicate the performance of conventional water-based inks while providing measurable sustainability advantages. The technology is capable of delivering carbon emission reductions of up to 25% and has been designed to support high-speed press operations with consistent print results.

The ink range is suitable for a variety of packaging applications, including corrugated packaging, industrial bags and sacks, food service packaging, and film-based substrates. By enabling a transition toward renewable materials, TerraCode Bio allows printers and converters to align with sustainability objectives while maintaining efficient production workflows.

The solution has already gained significant traction across the European market, particularly within the post-print corrugated packaging segment. Users have reported seamless integration into existing operations, with no noticeable impact on throughput and improved environmental performance compared to traditional extender systems.

Paul Winstanley, Vice President of Technology and Product Management at Flint Group Packaging Solutions, stated that TerraCode Bio was developed to help printers reduce environmental impact without introducing additional complexity or operational risks into the pressroom.

He noted that the award recognizes the technology’s ability to combine performance and carbon reduction, while also highlighting the expertise and innovation efforts of the company’s development teams. He further emphasized that the use of responsibly sourced bio-renewable materials, including resources recovered from waste streams, helps customers move toward more sustainable packaging solutions without affecting recyclability or production efficiency.

The award reflects the growing demand for environmentally responsible solutions within the printing and packaging sectors, where sustainability goals are increasingly influencing purchasing decisions and product development strategies. As converters and brand owners continue to seek lower-carbon alternatives, innovations such as TerraCode Bio demonstrate how advanced ink technologies can support both environmental objectives and commercial performance.

With this latest recognition, Flint Group Packaging Solutions further strengthens its position as a provider of sustainable printing solutions, reinforcing the industry’s shift toward renewable materials and more responsible packaging production practices.
