Chennai-based label converter invests in automated slitting, rewinding and inspection technologies to enhance productivity, quality assurance and production efficiency.
Chennai: South India’s label printing sector continues to witness significant investments in advanced finishing technologies as Pioneer Arunachalam Packaging has strengthened its production capabilities with the installation of multiple high-speed converting and inspection systems. The latest investment reflects the growing emphasis among Indian label converters on automation, quality assurance and faster turnaround times to meet increasing customer expectations.
The company has commissioned three customised Rhyguan Smart-450 slitting and rewinding systems integrated with Luster LabelMaster 450 inspection units. Complementing these installations is an automated DYM finishing line comprising the SACD-450P automatic turret rewinder, HAU-450 automatic butt-splicing unwinder and NAC-450 automatic waste matrix removal system. The complete solution has been supplied and installed by Flexo Image Graphics (FIG), a leading provider of label printing and finishing equipment in India.
The investment is aimed at enhancing productivity in the company’s rapidly growing self-adhesive label business. By integrating high-speed slitting, automated inspection and continuous finishing workflows, Pioneer Arunachalam expects to improve production efficiency while ensuring greater consistency in print quality and defect detection. Automation of rewinding and waste removal is also expected to reduce machine downtime and optimise workflow across the production floor.
Founded in 1994, Pioneer Arunachalam Packaging has built a strong presence in the southern Indian market, supplying self-adhesive and shrink labels to customers in the liquor, FMCG and pharmaceutical sectors. The company’s latest investment reflects a broader trend in the Indian label industry, where converters are increasingly adopting intelligent finishing systems to support shorter production runs, faster job changes and the stringent quality requirements associated with digitally printed labels.
