New roll slitting system enhances quality, efficiency and flexibility

PEKU Folien is investing in a new slitting line from the Spanish machine manufacturer Comexi, further expanding its expertise in processing high-quality printed packaging films. The system increases precision, efficiency, and flexibility, improves the winding quality of the rolls, and enables the company to handle the entire finishing process at its Neumarkt site in the future . The slitting line with double winder offers maximum cutting precision, short setup times, and efficient processing of a wide variety of film types.

 Investment creates added value for customers and employees

The use of the new roll slitter elevates the production of packaging films to a new level. Customers in the food, pet food, hygiene, industrial, and consumer goods sectors will particularly benefit. “Our customers expect the highest quality, short delivery times, and maximum flexibility. With the new system, we are making a targeted investment in meeting these requirements. At the same time, we are strengthening our Neumarkt location, as we can now offer the complete finishing process on-site,” says Michael Pirner, Sales Manager at PEKU Folien. In addition to its high cutting precision, the new machine impresses with its energy-efficient drive technology, modern automation, and ergonomically designed workstations, which significantly reduces the physical strain on employees.

 Sustainability through efficient processes

“Laser-assisted positioning of the knives enables precise roll geometry and consistently high processing quality. At the same time, the automatic unloading of the finished rolls reduces downtime and thus increases the productivity of the new cutting line,” says Patrick Hofmann, Operations Manager at PEKU Folien. Modern automation and control systems also ensure reproducible results, reduce setup times, and enable cost-effective production of even small and medium batch sizes. “With the new cutting line, we are laying the foundation for even more resource-efficient production. Particularly energy-efficient drive technology and optimized production processes help to reduce material losses and optimize energy and raw material usage. At the same time, the high-performance downstream cutting process allows us to better utilize the capacities of the upstream production stages and to coordinate the entire process chain more efficiently. The new system thus supports PEKU’s sustainability strategy and contributes to economical and responsible packaging production. Particular emphasis was placed on the ergonomic design of the new line to provide the best possible support and relief for our employees, who are our most important success factor,” explains Patrick Hofmann, Plant Manager at PEKU Folien GmbH.

PEKU Folien continues its growth trajectory

The commissioning of the new roll slitter is part of an ongoing investment program with which PEKU is modernizing its manufacturing and expanding its production capacity. Back in 2023, the company invested in the construction of a cleanroom and the associated technologies for the medical technology sector. With the new Comexi system, PEKU Folien is strengthening its Neumarkt site and laying the foundation for even more efficient, sustainable, and high-quality packaging solutions.
