HEIDELBERG Powers Siepmann’s Hybrid Print Growth
Hamburg-based print company integrates Speedmaster XL 106 and Versafire LV to enhance flexibility, automation, and production efficiency.

Hamburg-based printing company Siepmann has strengthened its production capabilities by investing in a hybrid print production environment featuring advanced offset and digital printing solutions from HEIDELBERG. The integration of a Speedmaster XL 106 Peak Performance Generation press and a Versafire LV digital printing system is aimed at improving flexibility, automation, and efficiency across its production operations.

As print businesses face increasing demand for shorter runs, faster turnaround times, and customized applications, Siepmann has adopted a connected production approach that combines the strengths of offset and digital printing. Both systems are integrated through the HEIDELBERG Prinect workflow, enabling seamless production management and allowing the company to select the most efficient printing method based on job requirements.

Specializing in package inserts, packaging, and high-quality customized commercial print products, Siepmann has invested in the hybrid setup to meet evolving customer expectations while maintaining consistent quality and productivity. The connected workflow enables accurate colour reproduction across both printing technologies, helping the company achieve reliable output for diverse applications.

The Speedmaster XL 106 from HEIDELBERG’s Peak Performance Generation delivers high productivity for offset printing, operating at speeds of up to 18,000 sheets per hour. Equipped with advanced automation features, the press includes DryStar Combination Eco dryer technology, which helps reduce energy consumption, along with Prinect Inpress Control 3 for precise colour measurement and reduced waste during production.

The system also features Prinect Inline Inspection 4, an automated quality control solution that continuously monitors printed sheets and compares output with stored PDF data. This provides enhanced reliability for sensitive applications such as pharmaceutical package inserts and premium packaging where accuracy is critical.

Complementing the offset capabilities, the Versafire LV digital press expands Siepmann’s ability to handle short and medium runs, personalized print jobs, and specialized applications. The system supports banner printing, large-format posters, multi-page documents, and finishing options with special colours including white, gold, silver, and metallic effects.

Through the Prinect Digital Frontend integration, the Versafire LV becomes part of a unified production environment, enabling smoother workflow management and greater flexibility for customized print requirements.

The overall investment also includes HEIDELBERG Prinect Production Manager, which supports automated production planning, job management, and workflow optimization from quotation through finishing. The system helps reduce manual intervention, minimize waste, and improve operational efficiency.

HEIDELBERG stated that the growing adoption of hybrid production models reflects the changing needs of the commercial printing industry, where combining offset productivity with digital flexibility has become increasingly important.

With this investment, Siepmann is positioned to respond more effectively to market demands by offering faster production, customized solutions, and consistent print quality. The company’s move highlights the broader industry shift toward integrated, automated, and sustainable print production environments.
