Additional funding supports development of inkjet manufacturing systems for perovskite solar cells, OLED displays and emerging industrial applications.
Japan: Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, “Epson”) and Epson X Investment Corporation have made an additional investment in Gosan Tech Co., Ltd. through the EP-GB Investment Limited Partnership. Gosan Tech is a South Korean startup developing inkjet technologies for a wide range of industrial applications.
Founded in 2015, Gosan Tech develops and supplies inkjet manufacturing systems for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. Through its work in this field, the company has built expertise in ink supply systems, pressure control technology, and simulation technology that enable highly uniform and precise ink droplet formation. Today, Gosan Tech is expanding its business across three key sectors: information technology, including OLED display manufacturing and direct parts marking; environmental applications, particularly perovskite solar cells (PSCs); and biomedical applications such as pharmaceutical dispensing, tissue engineering, and diagnostic equipment.
Among these, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted significant attention due to rapid improvements in power conversion efficiency in recent years. Their lightweight, thin and flexible structure, combined with the potential for lower manufacturing costs through inkjet production technology, has accelerated commercialization efforts worldwide. Considered a promising next-generation renewable energy technology, PSCs are expected to complement or eventually serve as an alternative to conventional silicon-based solar cells.
Gosan Tech develops both PSC modules and inkjet-based manufacturing systems for their production. By utilizing inkjet technology, the company enables high-quality thin-film formation while allowing precise control over film thickness, material deposition and design patterns, helping improve power generation efficiency, design flexibility and material utilization.
Epson first invested in Gosan Tech in April 2025 as part of its industrial printhead business partnership. Since then, Epson, together with its South Korean sales and service subsidiary, Epson Korea Co., Ltd., has supported Gosan Tech by supplying high-precision industrial printheads optimized for advanced manufacturing applications.
During this period, Gosan Tech has continued to expand its business by improving the power conversion efficiency of its PSC modules, increasing production capacity for inkjet-based PSC manufacturing systems, and securing additional commercial production orders from new customers. Through this latest investment, Epson aims to further accelerate the growth of the market for inkjet-based manufacturing systems for perovskite solar cells in collaboration with Gosan Tech.
Under its long-term corporate vision, ENGINEERED FUTURE 2035, Epson aims to support the sustainable growth of industry and society by advancing a broad range of inkjet-based solutions, improving industrial productivity and reliability, and creating new value through technological innovation. The company is also expanding the application of its inkjet technology into emerging fields such as electronics, biotechnology and perovskite solar cells. By combining Epson’s industrial expertise with Gosan Tech’s innovative technologies, both companies aim to create new synergies and accelerate the commercialization of next-generation inkjet manufacturing solutions.
