Seven-Eleven Japan x Osaka Sealing Printing “Treeloop Thermal™” is used on the labels of some bento box products.
pleased to announce that “Treeloop Thermal™,” a thermal paper from OSAKA SEALING PRINTING CO., LTD., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tennoji-ku, Osaka City, President: Matsuguchi Tadashi), a member of the OSP Group, has been adopted for product labels of bento boxes and rice dishes by Seven-Eleven Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Tomohiro Akutsu, hereinafter referred to as SEJ).
SEJ will be conducting a “label demonstration test” using “Treeloop Thermal™” at approximately 300 stores in Chiba Prefecture starting November 3rd, 2026 (Tuesday), on a selection of about 15 bento box products. “Treeloop Thermal™” is an environmentally friendly thermal paper that does not use bisphenol A and bisphenol S as color developers, but instead uses biomass-derived color developers. The thermal material parts other than the paper used in these labels have been replaced with 10-20% naturally derived materials.
■ Background of the recruitment
SEJ has been working to reduce its environmental impact, including the use of “Treeloop Thermal™” labels, and in response to concerns about rising energy and material prices due to global circumstances, by utilizing paper materials, reducing the weight of containers, and commercializing containers made from recycled materials. Moving forward, we will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by reducing environmental impact and promoting resource recycling.

■ About “Treeloop Thermal™”
The color developers used in thermal paper are generally derived from petroleum. This product is an environmentally friendly product that replaces some of these color developers with lignin-based color developers made from kraft lignin. Kraft lignin is a component found in the black liquor (dark brown waste liquid) generated when pulp is extracted from wood. By utilizing this waste liquid as a raw material, we have achieved upcycling and reduced environmental impact by decreasing the use of petroleum-derived color developers. Furthermore, this product does not use bisphenol A, which is prohibited by overseas regulations, or bisphenol S, which has usage restrictions, as color developers. Since its launch in May of this year, its natural colors, while being environmentally conscious, have been well-received as added value.
