Vivid Laminating Technologies is set to launch a new reel-to-reel digital foiling system at Labelexpo Europe later this month. The company’s new Matrix Foil Label is said to make premium label embellishment more accessible for all label printers. The device, which is additional to the Vivid portfolio, can foil and laminate reel-to-reel and efficiently take up waste from label stock. It can accommodate substrates up to 370mm wide.
Vivid said the new capabilities make it easier for digital printers to add premium metallic finishes and special effects to label substrates, without the high costs traditionally associated with foiling. “With the launch of Matrix Foil Label, we’re opening the door for digital printers of all sizes to embrace label foiling,” said Gavin Ward, technical director at Vivid.
“The system brings together the flexibility and quality the Matrix is known for with reel-to-reel finishing that streamlines workflows, making label enhancement more affordable and accessible than ever before.” The system includes Matrix Metallic technology, which is said to ensure the majority of label stocks will be foilable, including textured material.
The FoiLabel has also been designed with ease of use, with setup taking under five minutes, while changing over foil colours is “fast and simple, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity”. The system is available to order straight away and, as it is manufactured at Vivid’s headquarters in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, the lead time is only two weeks.
Vivid told Printweek that, depending on the configuration, the machine “can be purchased at £65 per week so it can fit into a very desirable price bracket compared to other foiling systems on the market”. On its stand (3E15) at Labelexpo Europe, in Barcelona, Spain from 16-19 September, visitors will see live demonstrations of the Matrix FoiLabel in action. The machine will also be running in conjunction with the VeloBlade Volta.
Vivid will be showcasing the Veloblade Volta with the Veloton and Velotaper, the ZipCore Packaging Suite, as well as the Matrix Metallic and Omniflow Feeder. The Veloton is a patented interchangeable system that is said to “dramatically increase” cutting speeds on positioned multiple cuts, making production up to ten times faster.
The company will also be exhibiting at stand P460 at The Print Show, from 23-25 September at the NEC in Birmingham, where it will also be holding live demos of the new Matrix FoiLabel.
