New DTG platform boosts on-demand apparel production by 30% while streamlining workflows and reducing reliance on DTF printing.
USColorworks, a North Carolina-based apparel decoration and fulfillment company, has strengthened its digital textile printing capabilities by expanding its production platform with Kornit Digital’s Atlas MATRIX and Atlas MAX PLUS systems. The investment is designed to enhance on-demand apparel production while delivering consistent, high-quality prints across cotton, blended fabrics, and polyester.
Among the early adopters of the Kornit Atlas MATRIX direct-to-garment (DTG) platform, USColorworks expects the new technology to increase its on-demand apparel and textile production capacity by approximately 30%. The advanced system enables high-definition printing across a wide range of fabric types while simplifying production workflows and reducing operational complexity.
The company is replacing its legacy production equipment with the Atlas MATRIX platform, enabling seamless processing of both single-piece custom orders and large-volume production runs. The upgrade is expected to improve turnaround times, lower labour requirements, eliminate pre-treatment steps, and provide a softer print finish.
USColorworks is also reducing its dependence on direct-to-film (DTF) printing for short-run polyester applications by shifting those jobs to Kornit’s digital production platform. The transition supports faster order fulfillment, direct-to-customer shipping, and reduced inventory requirements, making print-on-demand production more efficient and scalable.
Rodney McDonald, President of USColorworks, said digital production has significantly strengthened the company’s ability to handle both bulk and customized orders within a single workflow. He noted that the Atlas MATRIX platform has already contributed to increased production volumes from retail customers while improving speed, consistency, and overall operational efficiency.
Chris Carson, Vice President of Sales at Kornit North America, said the successful deployment demonstrates how Atlas MATRIX is helping apparel manufacturers adopt digital production as the preferred manufacturing model for the on-demand era. He added that the platform removes traditional production limitations while enabling greater flexibility, quality, and scalability.
The installation highlights the growing momentum behind digital textile printing as apparel manufacturers continue to invest in technologies that support faster production, lower inventory, and sustainable, on-demand manufacturing.
