Printstance, a sister company of Mumbai’s Patel Digital Printers, has recently installed the Oyang Pixelprint 440C-HD, a high-speed duplex color inkjet press designed for webfed digital printing.
While Patel Digital operates from Powai, Printstance’s new facility in Bhiwandi now houses this advanced press, boosting its short-run book production capabilities.Leveraging its parent company’s strong reputation for quality digital printing and finishing, Printstance is expanding its capacity to offer cost-effective solutions with fast turnaround times, especially for books, educational materials, and print-on-demand products. The Oyang Pixelprint 440C-HD uses full-color duplex inkjet technology, making it suitable for commercial and book printing.
This press features Oyang’s proprietary Dual Channel Printing (DCP) technology, which helps prolong the life of printheads by employing industrial-grade Epson HD piezoelectric printheads combined with Meteor control boards, all controlled by a Harlequin RIP system. It supports a maximum print width of 440 mm and currently runs at speeds of up to 90 meters per minute, with plans for a future upgrade to 150 meters per minute.
According to Prakash Patel, owner of Printstance, the press is built for vibration-free continuous operation and includes an advanced liquid cooling system to keep printheads, control boards, and paper paths stable during long print runs. The installation also includes a precision sheeter and a high-capacity stacker, with an in-line folding unit planned to automate book block production.
This new press allows Printstance to meet the growing demand for short-run, on-demand book printing, particularly in the education sector. It is used to produce black-and-white and full-color textbooks, children’s books, novels, exam prep guides, and workbooks. The press is compatible with uncoated papers weighing between 50 and 120 gsm, with plans to extend capabilities to coated papers as newer models become available.
Printstance anticipates producing 2 to 3 million A4 impressions per month, driven by publishers requiring smaller batches and frequent reprints. Patel highlights that inkjet technology suits on-demand publishing well by enabling faster turnaround, reducing waste, and lowering setup costs compared to offset printing—especially beneficial for reprints and variable content.
In addition to the new inkjet press, Printstance operates a comprehensive range of digital printing and finishing equipment, including a Canon imagePRESS C10000VP, four Xerox digital presses, and a Canon monochrome press. Their finishing capabilities include perfect binding, thermal lamination, stapling, creasing, and cutting, allowing full in-house production from file to finished product.
The Oyang Pixelprint 440C-HD was supplied by New Print Solutions, the exclusive Indian agent for Oyang and a sister company of Nippon Color. The press strengthens Printstance’s commitment to delivering speed, reliability, and quality while adopting digital innovations to support the evolving printing needs of Indian publishers.
