MGX Launches New UVI Grade for Enhanced UV Inkjet Printing Performance
MGX, a leading manufacturer of specialty substrates and coating solutions for the commercial printing industry, has announced the introduction of its new UVI-grade materials, specifically developed for UV inkjet printing presses.

The newly launched UVI coating technology is designed to improve image quality while significantly enhancing ink adhesion on UV inkjet platforms, including the Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1, AccurioJet 30000, and Komori Impremia IS29. By strengthening ink bonding, the coating helps improve print durability and reduces the risk of chipping and flaking during finishing processes such as trimming and die-cutting.

According to Jeremy Underhill, Vice President of Sales at MGX, the company focuses on developing substrate solutions tailored to the performance requirements of individual printing platforms rather than adopting a universal approach. He noted that the addition of the PVC UVI grade provides UV inkjet printers with a dependable option for applications requiring rigidity, durability, and a high-quality finished appearance.

The company will initially offer the UVI coating on its Rigid Vinyl PVC product line. These materials are designed for flat-print applications where strength, stiffness, and long-term durability are essential. Common end uses include signage, shelf talkers, tags, door hangers, and other printed products that must withstand handling and demanding environmental conditions.

MGX also plans to expand the availability of its UVI coating technology across additional specialty substrates in its portfolio. This expansion will provide UV inkjet printers with a broader range of materials that deliver improved ink adhesion, reliable print performance, and enhanced durability for a variety of commercial applications.
