The Ministry of Finance has enacted a countervailing duty (CVD) on the importation of digital offset printing plates from China and Taiwan.
This duty, which will be in effect for a duration of five years, is a result of the conclusive findings from the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR). The DGTR determined that the subsidized imports from these nations posed a significant risk of causing material harm to Indian manufacturers.
According to the notification, digital offset printing plates were being imported at subsidized prices, which created unfair competitive advantages for foreign producers.
The government, utilizing its authority under Sections 9(1) and 9(6) of the Customs Tariff Act of 1975, has implemented the CVD based on the injury margins and subsidy levels identified during the investigation.
