Company completes integration of manroland sheetfed’s lifecycle business and sales network while moving to fully acquire POLAR’s production operations.
Heidelberg, Germany: Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) has completed the integration of the lifecycle business and the global sales and service companies of the manroland sheetfed Group. The move marks another milestone in the company’s strategy to strengthen its position as a systems integrator in the global printing and packaging industry.
The company also announced that it has signed an agreement to take over the production of POLAR presses and systems. Development of the product range will be integrated into HEIDELBERG’s organisation, further expanding its capabilities in packaging, label printing and post-press automation.
HEIDELBERG said the acquisition follows the successful integration of POLAR’s technology, brand, sales and service operations. By bringing production and product development under its control, the company aims to accelerate innovation in automation, workflow integration and connected production environments.
POLAR’s portfolio includes automated systems for loading, jogging, cutting, die-cutting, unloading and banding. These solutions are widely used in commercial printing, packaging and label production to improve productivity and reduce manual intervention.
The company said the production transition will be carried out in stages. The current POLAR manufacturing site in Hofheim will eventually be phased out following the sale of the facility. During the transition period, HEIDELBERG will prepare to integrate production into its existing manufacturing network.
According to the company, customer service, technical support and sales operations will continue without interruption throughout the integration process.
Commenting on the development, Jürgen Otto, CEO of HEIDELBERG, said the integration of manroland sheetfed’s businesses and the acquisition of POLAR strengthen the company’s leadership in the printing and packaging industry.
He added that the expanded portfolio will enable HEIDELBERG to deliver greater value through integrated solutions while supporting customers with automation, productivity and long-term operational reliability.
The collaboration between HEIDELBERG and POLAR dates back to the 1950s. With the planned integration of development, production, sales and service, the company aims to offer a unified portfolio across the entire print production value chain.
