Following strong industry interest at PlastIndia 2026, Printgraph Converting Machinery is demonstrating its six-colour Versaflex flexographic press in Mumbai, designed for efficient food-safe flexible packaging production with liquid inks.
Printgraph Converting Machinery has announced a Versaflex open house event, giving flexible packaging converters an opportunity to experience the company’s advanced mid-web flexographic press in live production conditions.
The event, being held from 20 to 30 June 2026 at Perfect Printgraph Engineers in Mumbai, follows the positive response received for Versaflex at PlastIndia 2026. Visitors can witness demonstrations of the six-colour, 800 mm-wide press, which is capable of achieving speeds of up to 180 metres per minute.
Developed for short-run flexible packaging applications, Versaflex is positioned as a solution between traditional CI flexo and label flexo technologies. The press enables converters to produce economical short runs using solvent-based and water-based liquid inks, supporting applications where food safety and print performance are critical.
Hiten Mehta of Printgraph Converting Machinery said the changing packaging landscape, driven by increasing product variations, multiple SKUs and frequent design updates, has created demand for more flexible production solutions.
“While CI flexo and rotogravure presses remain highly effective for large-volume jobs, they are often not economical for smaller orders in the 50–200 kg range. Versaflex has been developed to address this specific requirement,” Mehta said.
Unlike conventional narrow-web label presses that mainly rely on UV inks, Versaflex has been engineered for liquid ink systems commonly used in flexible packaging. This makes the press suitable for converters seeking a short-run solution that aligns with packaging safety requirements.
The demand for such technology has grown as many converters have turned to UV-based label presses for smaller packaging jobs due to their economics, despite limitations for certain food packaging applications. Versaflex aims to provide an alternative with liquid-ink compatibility while maintaining production efficiency.
The machine is available in configurations from four to ten colours, with web widths ranging from 600 mm to 2,200 mm, allowing converters to customise the press based on their operational needs.
Printgraph said Versaflex is designed to complement existing CI flexo, rotogravure and label flexo equipment by handling shorter production runs more efficiently. This helps companies reserve their larger presses for high-volume work while improving overall productivity.
The press supports printing on both film and paper substrates and is suitable for applications including wrappers, sachets, pouches, laminated structures, food packaging and FMCG packaging.
According to Mehta, the open house allows converters to evaluate the machine’s capabilities under real production conditions.
“Visitors at PlastIndia showed strong interest in the concept. Through this open house, we want converters to experience Versaflex directly and understand how it can enhance flexibility, reduce changeover costs and improve profitability in short-run packaging production,” he added.
The event will continue until 30 June 2026 at Perfect Printgraph Engineers, Mumbai, with customer demonstrations scheduled throughout the programme.
