Interview with Mr. Jun Sudo, President of Komori India Private Limited
Komori Corporation is a Japanese multinational known for advanced offset presses, digital printing solutions, and packaging technologies.
Print3 team had interview with Mr. Jun Sudo in Print Expo 2025, Chennai and at China Print 2025.

Print3 : How do you see the event Print expo and how do you foresee the show will give you an impact for Komori?

Jun Sudo : Yes, well so for Komori this is our first time to take part in this exhibition in Chennai and we are. I think steadily increasing our presence in the South Indian printing industry and so far we have delivered some 60 machines to this area. And we hope that by taking part in this exhibition we will get to see more and more new perfected customers so that we can continue to expand the strength.

P3 : Any innovation, technology or any new features are introduced by Komori now or anything is picked in the near future?

JS : Yes, we have recently launched this Lithron G40 EX Edition. This is an upgraded version of the Lithron G40 Advanced Series and what we did was to add some smart design changes to reduce the power consumption. So compared to the former Lusongi for the advanced series, the power consumption for the overall production is approximately 50 to 80 percent on a standard machine of four color or six-color scouting machine and we have also made some refinement in the feeder and delivery so that the operator will have a better ease of operation, easier operation to give the machine at higher productivity and also we have reviewed our ink roller arrangement so this also helps reduce the load of the motor drive and then this will be also contributing to the power reduction.

P3 : How do you look at the technological development happening in the printing industry?

JS : Well, I think the market is following the market which we have developed earlier, so like in Japan, Europe, United States or China. So I think there are customers who want to have more and more automation on the machine. They want to have more complex configurations, multicolor configurations and I think more and more customers want to have a feature which helps them standardize their production. I think a core machine is basically built to promote the standardization of the production because quality means to have a reproducible quality over time so that is how our machine is designed and I think more and more customers are willing to utilize Komori’s design.

P3 : Where Offset Printing Industry Scroll down digital printing?

JS : We do see that in some part of the industry the digital printing is taking over the job from offset. But this does not, at least for Komori, this didn’t mean that our business is slowing down or shrinking because we are moving into the packaging industry and Also, I think there are still differences in the digital printing technology and in the offset printing technology. Digital will not be able to completely replace what is being done on offset. I think it will at least take some more time for digital printing will really start to affect our business. But having said that, Komori is also developing our own digital printing systems.

We have launched the IS-29, the UV inkjet sheet-fed machine, and also the NS-40, the IMPREMIA NS-40 series, which utilizes the nanographic printing technology from LANA Corporation and based on our know-how we have built over years based on these two models we have lately introduced the JThrone 29 which is a UV inkjet printing sheet-fed machine which has the highest speed available in the B2 digital printing as of today and we are about to start a beta test at some five customers in the North America and China so that soon we will be able to make a full-scale launch of this product targeting the middle of 2026.

P3: Do you want to share any news or message to your current and future customers?

JS : So, Komori is continuing to establish its position in the Indian market and we want to become and recognize as one of the most reliable print solution provider. And in doing so, we are investing in our resource. We are soon opening a training facility in Delhi to first of all train our younger engineers. And also we are holding a regular training of our print application engineers sending them to Japan for extensive training.

So hopefully we will As we expand our market share and install base in the market, we hope to catch up with the investment resource and to keep our customers satisfied with the service. And also, hopefully we would like to even improve our service to the customer so the customer can get the best out of our products.

P3 : Which machines did your company showcase at China Print 2025? Were there any virtual demonstrations as well?

JS : Lithrone GL740 Advance EX Edition, Lithrone GX729 with inline coater, Jthrone 29 digital press, and MBO Series folding machine were four flagship products shown at the booth of KOMORI Corporation where a host of subsidiaries like KOMORI India were also present. There were some virtual demonstrations too, which included the success stories of our clients.

P3 : How many deals were finalised at China Print 2025 and for which machines?

JS : Collectively, a lot of deals were finalised during the five days of the show. But let’s specific to the deals which KOMORI India finalised. We finalised 8 deals of the key four machines which we showcased as flagship models.

P3: How many members from your Indian team were present at the show?

JS : A team of 10.

P3 : Please share your comments on how China Print has been a successful show for you?

JS : Exceeding all our expectations, China Print 2025 went well with comprehensive showcases of latest machines, technologies, and solutions encompassing the entire sectors. Advanced post-press machines including roll-to-sheet models as well as B2 inkjet digital printing systems were among the show-stoppers. Highlighted at our booth was the competency of KOMORI machines and operational excellence to elevate businesses across the commercial, packaging, and publishing domains. In a way, China Print 2025 was turned out to be a prolific show rather better than some of the highly reputed expos in Europe.

P3 : How was the Indian presence at China Print 2025?

JS : Compared to its earlier editions, number of trade visitors from India at the show this year is found to be increasing. On all fully-attended five days of Print China 2025, we received new and serious enquiries from Indian trade visitors that can be converted into business soon.

P3 : How do UV inkjet digital presses support printing on non-traditional substrates?

JS : According to the marketing research company statistics, we believe we have an overall market share of 60- 65% of Komori. So I think this trend has continued for several years till now and now I think we are now increasing more and more sales into the packaging sector. So I think the reason for our market share increase is pretty much close to this trend of the increasing number of packaging machines.
