Epson launches ES-550W and ES-590W wireless scanners
Epson today announces the launch of two new wireless A4 document scanners, the WorkForce ES-550W and ES-590W, designed to deliver high-speed, intelligent and flexible document digitisation for small businesses and home office users.

Built for today’s hybrid working environments, both models combine fast duplex scanning, advanced media handling and wireless connectivity, enabling users to digitise, organise and share documents seamlessly across devices and locations.

Both the ES-550W and ES-590W offer powerful performance with scan speeds of up to 45ppm (90ipm)[1] and a 100-sheet automatic document feeder, making it ideal for high-volume document capture.

Designed for flexibility, both models support a wide range of media, from small business cards (50.8mm) to long documents up to 6,096mm, and paper weights from 27–413 gsm, allowing users to digitise everything from thin receipts to thick documents in a single device.

The ES-550W features Wi-Fi and USB connectivity, enabling scanning via PC, Mac, smartphone or tablet using Epson ScanSmart and Smart Panel apps. Advanced reliability features such as ultrasonic double-feed detection, paper protection sensors and dirt-on-glass detection help prevent misfeeds and ensure consistently high-quality scans.

The ES-590W builds on these capabilities with enhanced usability and standalone functionality. A 4.3-inch touchscreen display enables intuitive, PC-free operation, allowing users to scan directly to email, network folders, USB devices and cloud services without needing a computer.

With ScanWay functionality, users can send documents directly to cloud services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and SharePoint, improving workflow efficiency and reducing reliance on intermediary devices.

The ES-590W also offers enhanced network flexibility, with configuration via touchscreen, mobile app or web interface, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for simplified setup, making it suitable for both individual users and small teams.

Both models share a robust hardware platform designed for reliability and efficiency. Features include:

  • One-pass duplex scanning with dual imaging sensors
  • 100-sheet ADF and 5,000-page daily duty cycle for consistent performance
  • Broad media compatibility to reduce the need for additional devices
  • Advanced image processing technology, including auto crop, skew correction and blank page removal
  • OCR capabilities to create searchable PDFs and editable Office documents

Additionally, Epson’s glass dirt detection system continuously monitors scanner condition throughout operation, alerting users to contamination and helping reduce rescans and downtime.

“Small businesses and home office users need fast, intuitive tools that fit into flexible workflows,” said Kevin Dobson, Product Manager at Epson Europe. “With the ES-550W and ES-590W, we’re delivering high-performance scanning with the intelligence, connectivity and reliability needed to keep work moving, whether at a desk or on the go.”
