Canon earns Keypoint Intelligence energy efficiency awards for toner-based A3 and A4 printers
Canon becomes the first manufacturer to receive Keypoint Intelligence’s new energy efficiency awards for toner-based A3 and A4 printer brands.

Canon U.S.A., Inc. has been recognised by Keypoint Intelligence with the 2026–2028 Most Energy Efficient Toner-Based A3 Brand Award and the 2026–2028 Most Energy Efficient Toner-Based A4 Brand Award. Canon is the first manufacturer to receive these honours under Keypoint Intelligence’s newly introduced energy efficiency testing methodology.

The awards recognise Canon’s continued efforts to develop energy-efficient printing solutions that help organisations reduce power consumption while maintaining productivity and print performance.

To determine the winners, Keypoint Intelligence evaluated nearly 200 toner-based A3 and A4 devices from multiple manufacturers over a five-year period. The assessment measured energy consumption during real-world printing workflows, including print, sleep and recovery modes, while also considering performance across a variety of document types and job conditions.

Canon’s portfolio stood out for its combination of low overall energy consumption and strong productivity. As part of the evaluation, 20 Canon devices from the imageFORCE, imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX, and imageCLASS product families were tested. According to Keypoint Intelligence, the devices demonstrated efficient power usage while maintaining fast print speeds and quick recovery times, making them well suited for high-volume office environments.

Commenting on the recognition, Kiyoshi Oka, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Marketing Strategy Unit at Canon U.S.A., said the awards reflect the company’s focus on designing imaging systems that combine performance with energy efficiency. He noted that technologies such as low-temperature melting toner and fast device start-up help reduce energy consumption while supporting uninterrupted office workflows.

The new awards are part of Keypoint Intelligence’s updated testing programme, which recognises manufacturers that deliver consistent energy efficiency across their toner-based product portfolios rather than evaluating individual devices alone. The recognition highlights the growing importance of sustainability in office printing as organisations increasingly seek equipment that supports both operational efficiency and environmental goals.

With energy efficiency becoming a key consideration for businesses worldwide, Canon’s latest achievement reinforces its commitment to developing printing technologies that balance productivity, performance and responsible energy use.
