Print3 : What inspired the founders to establish DR Optical Disc India in 2004?

Devesh Kumar Singh Rathore : We founded DR Optical Disc India with a vision to bring reliable, Indian-made printing and International UV-curing technology to a market that was heavily dependent on low quality systems. We saw growing opportunities in the optical disc and printing industries that demanded precision equipment. Our aim was to create globally competitive machinery from India. This ambition became the foundation of the company.

P3 : How did the idea evolve from initial vision to manufacturing and exporting printing machines and UV-equipment?

DKSR : The initial focus was on optical disc machinery, but as we understood customer needs, we expanded into screen printing and UV-curing Lamps solutions. Our engineering expertise helped us innovate and adapt quickly. Over time, our reputation for quality encouraged us to enter export markets. Today, we serve both Indian and overseas clients with a diverse product portfolio.

P3 : What were the earliest challenges the company faced and how were they overcome?

DKSR : Like most manufacturing startups, we faced challenges in sourcing high-precision components and building customer trust. We overcame these by investing in house R&D and maintaining strict quality control. Personalized customer support also helped build long-term relationships. Step by step, we established credibility in the industry.

P3 : Why did you choose to focus on printing machines, UV curing lamps, and related equipment rather than other manufacturing sectors?

DKSR : These segments offered strong growth potential and aligned well with our engineering strengths. The demand for efficient UV curing and printing technology was rising across multiple industries. We saw a clear opportunity to provide reliable & affordable solutions. This niche has allowed us to innovate continuously.

P3 : An you list out all your current products and also tell us about your very first launched product?

DKSR : Our products include UV Curing Lamps, UV Curing systems, Various Screen printing machines, Pad printing machines, BOPP film overwrapping machines and Bottle & containers labelling machines. We also undertake complete projects for manufacture of Laminated & Extruded PE Cosmetic tubes manufacturing units. One of our earliest launched products was UV-curing equipment for optical discs. It set the foundation for our expertise in UV technology.

DKSR : We focus on rugged engineering, precision components, and long service life. Our machines are designed for continuous industrial use with minimal downtime. P3 : How do you ensure quality control and compliance with international manufacturing standards, especially given your status as ISO-certified

DKSR : We follow strict ISO-certified processes throughout design, assembly, and testing. Every machine undergoes durability checks, electrical safety validation, and performance calibration. Our quality team ensures compliance with both Indian and export standards. Consistency and documentation are central to our manufacturing culture.

P3 : Which markets (domestic and international) does DR Optical Disc India primarily serve?

DKSR : Domestically, we serve printing houses, packaging units, PCB manufacturers, optical fibre industry, industrial processors and OEMs across India. Internationally, our products reach customers in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. We focus on markets that require reliable and cost-effective UV and printing solutions. Our export footprint continues to grow steadily.

P3 : What trends in the printing / packaging / UV-equipment industries have you observed recently, and how is your company adapting to them?

DKSR : We see rising demand for faster curing, energy-efficient UV systems, and automation. Packaging and labelling segments are expanding rapidly. We are adapting by introducing LED-UV, compact curing units and automation-ready machines. Innovation and user-friendly design remain at the core of our upgrades.

P3 : How does the company stay competitive given global competition and evolving customer demands?

DKSR : Our strength lies in delivering reliable machines at competitive pricing without compromising quality. We invest continuously in R&D and offer customization based on client needs. Quick service support and long lasting components help us stay ahead. Customer trust is our biggest competitive asset.

P3 : Have you expanded into new product lines or services to meet changing market needs?

DKSR : Yes, we have expanded into LED-UV systems, advanced IR dryers, and specialized printing machinery. We also offer customized automation modules and energyefficient UV solutions. These new product lines help our clients upgrade their production capabilities. This adaptability has strengthened our market presence.

P3 : What is the company’s growth strategy — in terms of production capacity, export markets, and product diversification?

DKSR : Our strategy focuses on increasing manufacturing efficiency, strengthening export partnerships, and adding advanced printing technologies. We aim to expand our UV and LEDUV product range significantly. Enhancing capacity and reaching newer international markets are key priorities. Diversification ensures long-term resilience.

P3 : With a relatively small team (11– 25 people) as per your profile, how does the company manage operations, quality and exports effectively?

DKSR : We follow a streamlined, process-driven workflow that maximizes efficiency. Each team member is highly skilled and trained across multiple functions. Strong coordination, digital tracking and lean manufacturing help us deliver on time. This agility allows us to handle both domestic and export requirements smoothly.

P3 : How important is after-sales service, installation support and client training in your business model?

DKSR : After-sales service is one of our strongest pillars. We ensure quick installation support, operator training, and remote troubleshooting. Our clients often rely on us for long-term technical guidance. Good service builds trust and directly contributes to repeat business.

P3 : Can you share a success story or a notable project that reflects the company’s strengths and commitment to customer satisfaction?

DKSR : One of our notable achievements was supplying a complete UV-curing and printing setup to a major packaging company on a tight deadline. We not only delivered the system ahead of schedule but also trained their entire workforce. The client reported a significant boost in productivity. Their appreciation reinforced our commitment to excellence.

P3 : How has the adoption of UV curing and screen-printing technology evolved in India — and how has DR Optical Disc contributed to this change?

DKSR : India has rapidly shifted toward UV-based systems for faster production and better finishing. We have played a key role by providing affordable and reliable UV curing machines. Our technology made advanced curing accessible to small and medium industries. This has accelerated nationwide adoption.

P3 : Do you see any technological barriers in India for manufacturing advanced printing and UV-curing machines? If yes — how are you addressing them?

DKSR : Some challenges include access to specialized components and the need for high-precision manufacturing infrastructure. We address this through strong vendor partnerships and continuous in-house innovation. Upgrading our production facilities also helps us keep pace with global expectations. Training our engineers is another
key focus.

P3 : Are there plans to incorporate newer technologies (automation, IoT, LED-UV, etc.) to meet future demands? 

DKSR : Yes, we are actively integrating LED-UV, semi-automation features and smart monitoring options in our machines. These technologies help clients reduce energy costs and improve efficiency. We aim to make advanced features accessible even to small manufacturers. Future-ready design is central to our roadmap.

P3 : What is your vision for DR Optical Disc in the next 5–10 years? Do you plan to expand workforce, export reach, or product range?

DKSR : Our vision is to become a leading global supplier of UV systems, printing & packaging equipment from India. We plan to expand our workforce, strengthen exports, and introduce new energy efficient technologies. Investing in R&D and automation will be a major priority. We aim for steady and sustainable growth.

P3 : How do you foresee the printing, packaging and UVequipment industry evolving in India in the coming years?

DKSR : The industry is moving toward automation, eco-friendly curing, and high-speed production. Demand for packaging, labelling, and specialty printing will rise significantly. UV and LED-UV systems will become mainstream across sectors. Indian manufacturers will increasingly adopt global-quality equipment.

P3 : What new opportunities (e.g. in packaging, textiles, pharmaceuticals, exports) do you anticipate and how will your company be positioned to take advantage?

DKSR : Growing sectors like flexible packaging, textiles, FMCG labelling, and pharma offer strong opportunities for UV-curing and printing technology. Our diversified product range positions us well to serve these segments. We are also preparing specialized solutions for export markets. This expansion will fuel our next phase of growth.

P3 : Does DR Optical Disc India have any initiatives for sustainability (e.g. energy-efficient machines, safe manufacturing practices, waste management)?

DKSR : Yes, we actively design energy efficient UV and LED-UV systems that reduce power consumption. Our manufacturing follows safe practices and responsible waste management. We also focus on long-lasting components to minimize replacement waste. Sustainability is becoming a core part of our design philosophy.

P3 : How do you ensure safety and compliance—both for workers and clients—given that you deal with UVequipment and industrial machines?

DKSR : We follow strict electrical and radiation safety norms and provide shielding in all UV systems. Workers receive regular training on machine safety and handling protocols. Clients are given detailed operating manuals and on-site training. Compliance and safe usage are top priorities in our production process.

P3 : Can you tell us about any recent product launches or upgrades?

DKSR : Recently, we introduced upgraded LED-UV curing systems designed for higher efficiency and lower energy consumption. We’ve also enhanced our screen-printing machines with improved automation and better operator controls. These upgrades help customers achieve faster production with consistent quality.
