The Christchurch business installed the new ‘5uper Colour’ press in May, replacing an older Canon device. Director Robert Jupp said the potential for creating high-impact print using the fifth colour option had significant appeal.

He said the pink, clear and white toner options had been released, with metallic gold and silver on the way. “We’ve sent samples to clients and have had a really good response,” he explained. “The fact that we will be able to print metallics and not have to go down the foiling route for short runs is a real advantage.” The Revoria SC285S was previewed at last year’s Drupa show and then at The Print Show in the UK, where Jupp first spoke to the Fujifilm team about the device.

The press prints at up to 2,400×2,400dpi and uses the same Super EA-Eco toner as Fuji’s high-end devices. It handles paper weights from 52gsm-400gsm, and prints at 85ppm, with high-productivity A3 printing at 47ppm and a long-sheet option. “I’ve been very impressed with Fujifilm. They’ve been very proactive with service, backup, sales and IT,” Jupp added. XDP employs five and has sales of around £350,000.

The firm prints for a raft of clients in the local area, including hotels, holiday camps and garden centres – with the pink toner option already used to enhance seasonal gardening collateral. It also works for a number of long-standing blue-chip clients in London. “The new press is faster, more robust and delivers excellent quality, but it’s the new creative options that really excite us.

“In a market where print budgets are under pressure, this gives us a real USP,” Jupp noted. He said XDP was effectively “fully self-sufficient” thanks to a raft of in-house print and post-press systems including perfect binding and three-knife trimming. The SC285S is the firm’s first Fuji device, with a Revoria E1 high-volume monochrome printer a likely future purchase when the time comes to replace its old Océ Varioprint.

Fujifilm UK head of POD Spencer Green commented: “We’re delighted to partner with XDP with their investment, as they become the first company in the UK to invest in this innovative press – and become a new customer of ours. “Their commitment to bringing fresh, eye-catching print to their customers perfectly matches what the Revoria SC285S was designed for – creative freedom, cost-efficiency and premium quality. We’re excited to see how they grow with these new capabilities.”

News Courtesy : Printweek

XDP Digital has boosted its added-value offering with the installation of the UK’s first five-colour Revoria SC285S…

[48
290
post-7615","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-print
["GET
