{"id":4160,"date":"2024-10-18T08:40:07","date_gmt":"2024-10-18T08:40:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.print3.in\/?p=4160"},"modified":"2024-11-15T14:42:02","modified_gmt":"2024-11-15T09:12:02","slug":"trading-update-q3-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.print3.in\/?p=4160","title":{"rendered":"Trading update Q3 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff1616;\"><em><strong>Mondi, a global leader in the production of sustainable packaging and paper, today provides an\u00a0update on trading for the three months to 30 September 2024 (\u201cthird quarter\u201d or \u201cQ3 2024\u201d).<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Underlying EBITDA for the quarter was, as expected, lower than the previous quarter, at \u20ac223\u00a0million (Q2 2024: \u20ac351 million). This was primarily due to more planned maintenance shuts and\u00a0a forestry fair value loss, which together resulted in a difference between the third quarter and\u00a0second quarter of approximately \u20ac90 million. This was in addition to softer seasonal demand and\u00a0higher input costs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Selling prices in Corrugated Packaging and Flexible Packaging were higher when compared to\u00a0the previous quarter due to the implementation of paper price increases earlier in the year. After\u00a0a recovery in pricing at the start of the year, pulp and paper selling prices in Uncoated Fine Paper\u00a0declined in the quarter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Andrew King, Chief Executive Officer, said: \u201cWhile we are seeing the benefits from the increase\u00a0in prices earlier this year across our key paper grades, trading conditions remain muted against\u00a0the backdrop of an uncertain macroeconomic environment. In the fourth quarter there will be\u00a0fewer planned maintenance shuts, and we expect the normal seasonal pick-up in demand.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOur expansionary projects remain on track. We are making good progress towards completing\u00a0the paper machine investments at \u0160t\u011bt\u00ed and Duino, both expected to start-up as planned. Overall,\u00a0our organic growth investments are expected to deliver a meaningful EBITDA contribution from\u00a02025.
